This year the Festival is donating R5 per ticket sold to the Cape Town Drug Counselling Centre. CTDCC is an NPO dedicated to treating and rehabilitating substance users and those directly affected by addiction. Aiming to bring about Transformation and Recovery for individuals, families and communities they offer training, family programs and treatment access. The Cape Town Drug Counselling Centre also provides adolescents a treatment programme that helps them acknowledge their problem and manage their addiction through treatment
The CTDCC opened it’s doors in 1985, and thirty years on there are now 3 centres in Observatory, Mitchells Plain and Atlantis.
Recognising that “Substance abuse is something that affects us all one way or the other”, Ashley Potts, Director of the CTDCC has been a fan of the Film Festival for a while now, “the Festival’s approach of trying to educate, inform and entertain has always seemed a good way to engage with a wider constituency, and their focus on celebrating recovery is so important here in Cape Town. Addiction and it’s problems are clear, it helps to hear about recovery, and successes.”
The CTDCC is an NPO and need support to keep helping our City, if you want to know more about their work go to http://www.drugcentre.org.za/
